Our Montessori Programs.

Our Enrichment and Extracurricular Programs.

  • At Manor Montessori, children are introduced to the French language at an early age through our effective French program. With a dedicated French teacher on staff, children are well supported as they begin their French language journey.

French is learned in an immersive and supportive environment, through stories, songs and images.

Our Casa students have French class, in small groups, for 30 minutes 3 times a week. Elementary students have 45 min of French daily.

Many Manor Montessori graduates go on to study in French immersion programs.

  • A healthy mind needs a healthy body!

Casa students have 1.5 hrs of outside play every day. The school has also integrated a skating program that runs through the second term.

Our Elementary program includes weekly gym classes and outdoor time where children are introduced to many fun exercises and games that help them build balance, strength and confidence.

The Elementary students also participate in excellent offsite athletic programming: swimming at Holland Bloorview pool and a winter ski or skate program.

  • Children have a natural curiosity about the world around them, which includes all the living things around us.

Casa students spend time outside in our garden planting seeds, raking leaves, and watching the seasons change. In addition, the annual farm field trip allows for deeper learning about food and where it comes from. Children bring food items back to the school for groups exploration and cooking!

In the Elementary classroom, the Botany curriculum covers each part of a plant individually, with numerous experiments and activities aimed at helping the children gain a deeper understanding of functions of the leaf, root, stem, flower, fruit and seed. Monthly field trips and local park visits through the fall and spring supplement the curriculum with hands-on discovery.

  • Manor Montessori recognizes that music is an integral part of cultural experience.

Casa students sing daily at group gathering and learn the names of the different instruments.

Our elementary students learn about composers, past and present and from many cultures.

The Elementary class has recorder or ukulele instruction. allowing students to learn to read music and create their own music.

All our students develop a love and pride of performing before a live audience and are given this opportunity during our annual Winter Concert.

  • Art is very hands-on at Manor Montessori. Students begin with the basics of art concepts and techniques.

Areas studied include the colour wheel with primary and secondary colours, complimentary and tertiary colours.

The students learn to see basic shapes within everyday objects helping them to visualize when they are creating their own sketches and works of art. Other elements in art include patterns, shading, texture, reflection, symmetry and perspective.

In the Elementary classroom, art origins and history are explored, leading into an in depth study of famous artists, their masterpieces and art styles.

All art concepts are explored with a variety of mediums such as coloured pencils, painting, cutting and pasting, clay, as well as outdoor sketching, in school artist workshops and an annual field trip to a local art gallery.

  • The Casa children go on two off campus excursions each year (i.e. a farm and Center Island ). This is in addition to special guests that come into the school to speak and do demonstrations for the children. (i.e. TSO, Lenny Graf, Fire Dept., Police, Humane Society etc.)

In the Elementary program, to bring the children’s experiences to “life”, field trips are incorporated into many of the children’s studies. Trips to The Ontario Science Centre, ROM, Kortright Centre, Black Creek, Pioneer Village and McMichael Art Gallery are all easily integrated into the curriculum. Trips to the library to take out books or research information are also integrated into the program.

  • Manor offers dynamic after school clubs each term. These clubs provide opportunities for our students to grow outside of academics and to deepen their friendships. Our clubs are diverse: dancing, yoga, art, running, chess, Pawsitively Pets, woodworking and more.
